Memorial Merits: Funerary resources, casket and urn reviews

Military Service Member and Family Support Center

Unless you’ve experienced it as either a service member or relative or family of a service member, the sacrifices that both the service members and their families face is beyond measure. The time away, the fear of injury or death, the time lost, births missed, birthdays missed, seeing family members age and all that time is the very definition of sacrifice. Those who have never experienced it may never truly understand the hardships the whole family endures.

This is why we have dedicated a special section just to honor service members and their families, providing concise resources and help, articles and information, and tribute to those who continue to keep our way of life safe.

My Personal Story…

While at sea, I lost my father during a routine mission and learned what it means to have to put your life aside, and that was the first time I ever felt that sacrifice. I hadn’t been allowed to leave, despite the Red Cross message, and endured having no choice but to wait. He was the last person I spoke with before departing, and more fortunate than some, I had told him I loved him as my last words with him. When I returned home, I was destroyed, I had to make the hardest decisions of my life, and no time to learn about what the right decisions was. Everything from funeral planning, managing not only my emotions, but also ignorant of what was needed. I was vulnerable in every way, and can say I felt like prey to those leveraging my guilt and my inexperience regarding costs.

Lastly, I had no time or room to grieve alone, less than 2 weeks after returning home I was back working again. I didn’t know how to grieve or how I should feel. Long story short, this entire site was created to help people with all those things I wish I had and give them the tools to protect their families, their mental health, their hard earned money (Because you know how little active duty enlisted earn). This is a place where they can save money, literally thousands, on funeral caskets and supplies, read about ways to properly channel their grief and understand it, and simply get the most and best in a single place.

This section is in its infancy, so please be patient, and check back regularly. Our aim is to make this site somewhere that will help take as much burden of the shoulders of Military Members, Veterans, and their families, providing concise, helpful information and resources, allowing every to perhaps rest just a bit easier at night.

This section is dedicated to being informed, knowing your rights, options available to you, frequently asked questions, common misconceptions, simplified guides and simplified information that can help you not only protect you and your family, but help you thrive!

While the military is about as short on directory lists as they are acronyms, our goal is to make it both more easier and concise to find the exact information and help you need with the hopes of making this the most complete directory in terms of mental health, grief, dealing with death and loss, protecting your family during crisis and healing.

We have much more to come too in ways we want to make this the best resource for service members, veterans and families in the hardest times of need. Stay tuned, and don’t hesitate to contact us so we may serve you as thanks for serving and sacrificing so much!

This Is YOUR Section, Help Us Make The Best We Can For You!

Please help use make this the best, easiest, supportive and helpful resource out there.
